Scorecard
Ryan Harris has taken a brilliant 7-60 to deliver Queensland outright victory by an innings and 28 runs over Tasmania at the Gabba.
The Bulls made it consecutive outright Sheffield Shield wins to start 2011-12, knocking over the defending four-day champions for 129 and then 130 in less than four sessions.
After making 287 on the first day, the Bulls showed the true value of their total on day two when they took 15 wickets to have the visitors all out in their first dig and 5-66 in their second when bad light stopped play half an hour early.
Harris ensured Queensland would make short work of the remaining Tigers on the third day, removing Luke Butterworth with the fourth ball of the morning on his way to taking four of the five remaining wickets.
Harris would finish with career-best first-class match figures of 9-83, giving him the ideal preparation before flying to South Africa to join the national side on Saturday.
Ben Cutting had another eye-catching performance, bowling with genuine pace and aggression in both innings for combined figures of 4-57.
But while Queensland's bowlers did the job, the match-winning performances came from Ryan Broad and Wade Townsend who combined for a fighting 150-run opening stand on the first morning.
Comparatively, Tasmania's highest partnership of the contest was registered by tailenders Jason Krejza and Ben Hilfenhaus who combined for a 41-run ninth-wicket stand in the second innings.
Steve Magoffin removed the last of the recognised Tassie batsmen, Alex Doolan, in the fifth over of the day to have the visitors on their knees at 7-84.
But the 31-year-old quick didn't have a chance to add to his tally, succumbing to a calf strain and limping having bowled only 19 deliveries for the day.
Tom Triffitt's poor match continued when he failed to get the bat away from a nasty riser from Harris and was out nicking to Chris Hartley for five.
Hilfenhaus came in and was dropped twice at first slip by Steve Paulsen from the bowling of Harris before scoring, and then on 13 he had reprieve No.3 with Nathan Reardon dropping a tough chance at widish mid-on off Cutting's bowling.
Hilfenhaus eventually played on to give Harris his sixth and then the big Bulls paceman completed the rout, accounting for No.11 Adam Maher in the same over.
