The Victorian Spirit and the Western Fury have played out a thrilling tie in their rain-interrupted Women's Twenty20 clash at Casey Fields on Friday.
Fury won the toss and elected to send the hosts in, with Meg Lanning (18) and Elyse Villani (16) helping the Spirit make a solid start.
The impressive Nicky Shaw (2-14 off four overs) broke the opening stand at 32 when she had Lanning caught at mid-on.
It brought the outstanding Jess Cameron to the crease and the Australia batsman was the star, making 44 off 25 balls.
Villani departed to leave Victoria at 2-35 but Cameron took control, hitting six boundaries as the Spirit reached 2-83 after 12 overs before rain forced an early end to their innings.
Fury, chasing a revised target of 94 off 12 overs, made a shocking start as Kristen Beams (2-19 off three) removed Jenny Wallace for a duck with the third ball of their innings.
Suzie Bates (10) offered some resistance before being bowled by Beams as she attempted a sweep shot.
Fury were 2-37 through five overs when rain again hit to see the match end as a tie courtesy of the Duckworth-Lewis method.
