Veteran batsman Mike Hussey has defended Australia's tactics after they suffered their first loss at the ICC World Twenty20 on Tuesday.
Australia went down to Pakistan by 32 runs in their third and final Super Eight clash in Colombo, but managed to top their group with a superior run rate.
The Aussies face the West Indies for a place in the final on Friday, while Pakistan takes on tournament hosts Sri Lanka on Thursday, with both matches in Colombo.
Australia's decision to bowl against Pakistan has since come under scrutiny, though Hussey believes skipper George Bailey made the right choice.
"The tactic has been working well for us throughout the whole tournament so there's no reason to really flirt with our form in that respect," Hussey said.
"We've been doing it well, the batsmen like chasing. We just came up against a better team today.
"If we had of batted first or second, on tonight's performance, the result would have been the same.
"I thought the Pakistanis played an unbelievably good game. That's probably the best they can play.
"We were definitely down a little bit on where we have been so far in this tournament.
"Luckily for us we're still through to the semi-finals, but we certainly have to lift our game if we're going to win."
The West Indies qualified for the last four after beating India and New Zealand in the Super Eight phase.
"They don't rely heavily on just one player, although I think in the batting department Chris Gayle is a huge wicket for us to get cheaply," Hussey said.
"They've got more seam options as well. They won't have as many spin options as what Pakistan did.
"(Sunil) Narine is a key bowler for them and we're going to have to play him well.
"It's going to be really important if two guys can get together and really try and milk him for as many as we can through that middle period.
"If we can just take him for six or seven runs an over I think we're doing a great job, as long as he's not taking wickets and getting a crack at new batsmen.
"It's going to be a tough game. But I'm confident if we can play our best brand of cricket we can definitely beat the West Indies in the semi-final."
