The NSW Breakers maintained their unbeaten record in the Women's National Cricket League on Saturday, cruising to a 151-run win over the Western Fury in Blacktown.
After winning the toss and electing to bat, New South Wales put on a monstrous total of 3-312 from their 50 overs, led by a brilliant unbeaten 112 from Alex Blackwell, off just 97 balls, and half-centuries from opener Leah Poulton (50) and Lisa Sthalekar (74).
In response, the Fury could not build up any rhythm in their run-chase and were eventually bowled out for 161 in the 49th over.
The Breakers made a great start to their dig, with openers Poulton and Rachael Haynes (26) putting on 58 before Haynes was caught by Jenny Wallace from the off-spin bowling of Emma King.
King struck again to dismiss Poulton, but Blackwell and Sthlalekar took to the Western Australia attack with a vengeance, carting them around the ground.
Blackwell finished with 14 fours in her century, while Sthalekar found the boundary eight times as the pair put on 133 for the third wicket.
Alyssa Healy chipped in with 30, while King was the best of the Fury bowlers with 2-51 from her nine overs and Heather Graham took 1-10 from two.
In reply the Fury looked on track early on, moving to 0-23 after four overs before the rot set in.
Seamer Sarah Aley trapped Wallace plumb lbw for 16 in the sixth over and when Bolton was brilliantly run-out by a direct hit from Poulton, WA were stumbling at 2-50.
The wickets slowed the run-rate down considerably, and the Fury struggled to score with any consistency.
Sthalekar had Renee Chappell (8) caught on the mid-wicket boundary and Nicola Carey produced a brilliant one-handed catch to dismiss Chloe Piparo for a hard-earned 37 to have the visitors in real strife at 4-100 after 25 overs.
The wickets continued to tumble for the West Australians, and they never threatened the victory target.
Off-spinner Erin Osborne, seamer Sharon Millanta and Carey took two wickets apiece, while Aley, Sthalekar and Angela Reakes had one each.
