Delissa Kimmince starred with 66 runs as Queensland Fire edged the ACT Meteors by four runs in their WNCL Twenty20 match on Sunday.
Queensland won the toss and batted first at Freebody Oval, posting 5-137 from their 20 overs.
Kimmince registered what proved to be the top score in the match with 66 runs from 51 deliveries before she was dismissed by Samantha Bates (1-23).
Kirby Short added 28 runs, while there were useful contributions from Melissa Bulow (11), Jodie Fields (13) and Jess Jonassen (10) for the home side in Queanbeyan.
In reply, ACT started solidly enough, openers Laura Wright (18) and Asha Smith (19) getting their team off the mark.
First drop Kriss Britt added 11 and Sara Hungerford (35) top scored for her team batting at number four, but no Meteors player proved capable of registering the big score necessary to take control of the contest.
Hungerford's run out at the hands of Bulow left ACT 5-106 in the 16th over, and with it all to do as they sought to reel in the Queensland total.
A battling contribution of 19 not out from Kate Owen almost saw the Meteors sneak over the line, but with tail-enders Sally Moylan (one) and Rene Farrell (six) both run out cheaply, the visitors ultimately run out of overs and unable to get the job done.
Four Queensland bowlers took one wicket apiece, with Grace Harris (1-8), Kirsten Pike (1-28), Jemma Barsby (1-28) and Jude Coleman (1-29) the players to strike.
Rhiannon Dick led the wicket-takers for the Meteors, finishing with figures of 2-26 from her four overs.
