Venue change for India Test

UPDATED 12 February, 2013 3:52PM AEST | by Omnisport

The schedule for Australia's four-Test tour of India in February and March has been amended, with Hyderabad to now host the third match of the series.

The fixture - originally set to be staged at Green Park in Kanpur from March 14 to 18 next year - has been moved to the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.

Cricket Australia and the Australian Cricketers' Association had previously expressed concerns about a Test being staged in Kanpur, claiming the facilities were not in line with other Indian venues.

India's governing body of cricket - the Board of Control for Cricket in India - announced the shift in a brief statement on Friday evening.

"The change was necessitated because the ongoing construction activity at the Green Park, Kanpur, would not have been completed in time for the Test," the statement read.

Revised schedule for Australia's tour of India:

First Test: Delhi (February 22 to February 26)
Second Test: Mohali (March 2 to March 6)
Third Test: Hyderabad (March 14 to March 18)
Fourth Test: Chennai (March 22 to March 26)
