The Southern Stars continued their ICC Women's World Cup lead-up with a five-wicket win over India in a practice match on Tuesday.

The hosts reached 8-222 at the Cricket Club of India, with each of Reema Malhotra (35), Nagarajan Niranjana (35), Poonam Raut (31) and Thirush Kamini (30) getting starts.

The best of the Australian women with the ball were Lisa Sthalekar (3-29 off six overs) and Megan Schutt (2-47 off 10), while Sarah Coyte, Holly Ferling and Renee Chappell all got a wicket too.

It was a half-century from skipper Jodie Fields - who retired on 52 - that guided the Australians to 5-223 with 11.3 overs to spare.

Alex Blackwell contributed 47, while Alyssa Healy (36) and Jess Cameron (35) all got their eye in ahead of the World Cup, starting on Thursday.

The Southern Stars are first in action on Friday, when they take on Pakistan in Cuttack.
