Cricket Australia will monitor the situation in India after Australia's tour of the country was thrown into uncertainty by the bombing in Hyderabad.
The Australians are scheduled to play the second Test in Hyderabad on March 2 but there is some doubt as to whether the match will go ahead after the bombing on Thursday evening.
At least two separate explosions occurred in the southern Hyderabad suburb of Dilsukh Nagar, the blasts reportedly killing 12 people and leaving at least 78 injured as they occurred outside a cinema and bus station.
It is the first major bombing in India since September 2011 - although the country did fall victim to a terrorist attack on a Mumbai hotel during 2008 - and according to an Indian police official, other major cities in the country have been placed on high alert.
Despite the alert level being escalated, CA officials have said play will start as normal in the first Test in Chennai on Friday.
"We're aware of the tragic incident in Hyderabad," said a CA spokesperson through a statement to the media.
"The safety of the squad and support staff is of paramount importance and Australian team management and CA staff are liaising with the BCCI, local authorities and the Australian High Commission to ensure we have all the appropriate information.
"Today, we have no information to suggest there is any threat to the team in Chennai as a result of this incident."
Australia are scheduled to play four Tests against India leading into the Ashes series during the English summer.
