Darren Lehmann took over the role as Australian men’s coach just 16 days out from the First Test of The Ashes in the UK on June 24, 2013.
Lehmann has had an exceptional record as head coach of the XXXX Queensland Bulls, winning the Bupa Sheffield Shield and Ryobi One-Day Cup and the KFC T20 Big Bash League title with the Brisbane Heat all within the last two years.
The South Australian left-hand batsman and part-time orthodox spin bowler spent a lot of his playing career on the fringes of national selection, making his ODI debut in 1996 and Test debut in 1998.
He retired from playing in 2007 and moved into coaching.
As well as Queensland, Lehmann led Deccan Chargers to the Indian Premier League title at first crack in 2009.
