3 mobile Test Team Announced

19 November, 2009

Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) has today announced a 12-man squad for the first 3 mobile Test against West Indies starting at the Gabba in Brisbane on 26 November.

The squad is:

Ricky Ponting (c), TAS, 34
Michael Clarke (vc), NSW, 28
Doug Bollinger, NSW, 28
Brad Haddin, NSW, 32
Nathan Hauritz, NSW, 28
Ben Hilfenhaus, TAS, 26
Mike Hussey, WA, 34
Mitchell Johnson, WA, 28
Simon Katich, NSW, 34
Marcus North, WA, 30
Peter Siddle, VIC, 24
Shane Watson, NSW, 28

Commenting on the squad, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said: “The squad includes only one change from the side which played the last test of the Ashes series in England. Doug Bollinger comes in for Stuart Clark. Stuart is extremely unlucky to miss selection but we have been very impressed with Doug’s form in the recent ODI series in India and feel he deserves this opportunity in the Australian squad.

“Losing the Ashes was obviously extremely disappointing but the nucleus of the side performed very well individually. We’re confident this young side will continue to develop as we move into this exciting Test series at home but also continue to prepare for an Ashes series, which is now only 12 months away.”
