New South Wales has earned a narrow 12-run victory over the ACT Meteors in a dramatic Women's Twenty20 clash at Canberra's Manuka Oval on Friday afternoon.

Having posted 138 from their 19.3 overs, the Breakers produced a solid display in the field, restricting the hosts to 4-126.

The Breakers were led by a superb bowling performance from player of the match Sharon Millanta, who claimed 2-16 from her four overs as NSW skipper Lisa Sthalekar took 2-30.

The Meteors started their chase strongly, with openers Leonie Coleman (29 from 23) and Laura Wright (22 from 29) putting on 49 in seven overs for the first wicket.

But the introduction of Millanta and Erin Osborne (0-18) dropped the scoring rate, laying the foundation for the win.

Unbeaten ACT skipper, Kris Britt (51 from 38 balls) saw the Meteors almost pull off a dramatic win, but her big hitting wasn't quite enough to see them over the line.

The win sees the Breakers move into top position on the Women's Twenty20 ladder alongside the ACT with four points.
