Brett Lee – Man of Action

We talk exclusively to one of Australia's great fast bowlers and learn his remaining ambitions on and off the field.

Brett Lee is the firebrand Australian bowler – a blond streak who has been hurtling down cricket balls at 150km an hour for almost 20 years. The other Brett Lee is a contemplative philanthropist who loves music almost more than cricket and can’t sit still and holds a deep and abiding affection for India.

“India is unpredictable in every way,” says Brett, sitting in the sunshine of a Sydney harbourside day in his crisp, white shirt and flashy smile. “It is incredible. It is beautiful. It is hot and sweaty and uncomfortable and crowded. But there is still a place where you find space.”

Shannon Bennett – A passion for Food

One of Australia's greatest chefs tells us how he managed to achieve his goals and the challenges that still lie ahead.

Shannon Bennett first met Clive Fairbairn when he was 10 and Clive invited him to work every Saturday at Clive Fairbairn’s Sports Store. Clive was on the Victorian Cricket Board and one of the patrons of the Melbourne Cricket Club. At the age of 12 Shannon was playing cricket in grammar school and was aspiring to become a top cricketer.

Clive was Shannon’s mentor and taught him a lot about the game of cricket. Shannon then applied those same values to the kitchen and with a lot of determination and hard work eventually became the chef he is today.
