New Australian head coach Mickey Arthur says he wants to build the pool of available talent for the national team.
Cricket Australia today named Arthur as the Australian coach. The former South African and Western Australia coach will be in charge for the first Test against New Zealand in Brisbane.
Arthur sat down with CATV to talk about the exicting times and challenges that are ahead for the Australian team.
Arthur praised captain Michael Clarke and the CA process that led to his appointment.
The role is also responsible for helping develop team vision, strategy and a high-performance culture, as well as acting as a selector.
The Head Coach will work with state coaches and the head coach of the Centre of Excellence to develop strategies to improve coaching and player development across Australian cricket, including development of individual player development plans.
