Nitschke ups stumps

Nitschke, currently world's leading T20I wicket-taker and Australia's top run-scorer, told her Scorpions team-mates yesterday she would be retiring from all forms of cricket.

South Australia’s record holding cricketer Shelley Nitschke is pulling stumps, finishing her career at yesterday's match at Adelaide Oval.

Nitschke, currently world's leading T20I wicket-taker and Australia's top run-scorer, told her Scorpions team-mates yesterday she would be retiring from all forms of cricket.

Earlier this year she retired from international cricket, but decided to play one more season with the Scorpions as a mentor to many of the younger players.

Nitschke, who turned 35 last month, is still in fine form, sitting first in the run scoring list for T20, and the third highest run scorer in the 50 over format. She is also the second leading wicket taker in the T20 format.

The Scorpions play VicSpirit in today’s curtain raiser at Adelaide Oval before the KFC T20 Big Bash League match between the Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades.
