The big Sydney wet has forced Game 2 of the Rose Bowl Series between the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars and New Zealand White Ferns to be abandoned without a ball being bowled at Blacktown International Sportspark.
The Rose Bowl Trophy winner will now be decided in Game 3 on Sunday after the series opener was also washed out on Wednesday.
Heavy rain fell at the scheduled starting time of 10am AEST, leaving sections of the outfield water logged.
The covers were removed when the showers finally abated, however play was unable to commence due to the umpires' concerns over player safety.
When the rain returned the match was officially called off at around 1.50pm local time.
"We can't take a trick at the moment unfortunately and obviously with today being a washout it is a little bit disappointing for us," Southern Stars quick Ellyse Perry said.
"But at least we still have the last game of this ODI series on Sunday, so fingers crossed the weather clears up and we get on then."
Perry concedes the stakes are high on Sunday with the coveted Rose Bowl Trophy on the line but urged her team-mates not to be timid in the series decider.
"For us in terms of the series and where it sits it's probably one of those matches where you've got to be brave and play some really aggressive and attacking cricket and just hope that it comes off on the day," she said.
"It's a really fantastic opportunity for both teams in a lot of ways because now Sunday's match does carry with it an extra bit of pressure because it is that one-off match and we are playing for the Rose Bowl."
"It's a trophy that I think both teams really cherish holding and I know having held it for the last few years we'd really love to retain it, so now with the final match deciding it all it'll be really exciting and a good opportunity to play in those circumstances."
The young fast bowler stressed the importance of making a fast start with the ball on Sunday against the 'dangerous' White Ferns batting line-up.
"Something that we've really tried to focus on across the Twenty20 and one-day matches is starting well early with the ball," she said.
"And we have been a little bit inconsistent with that, myself included, in terms of just not quite nailing our lines and lengths because they are quite dangerous if you give them a bit of width."
Game 3 is scheduled to get underway at Blacktown International Sportspark at 10am AEST on Sunday.
