Commenting on the squad, new WNSP Chair Julie Savage said; “The Commonwealth Bank Shooting Stars tour to New Zealand represents a tremendous opportunity for these talented young Australian players who have been playing at both senior state and under-18 level.

“The tour allows the WNSP to introduce the players to international-level competition, and is an important step in the pathway to the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars.

“Current Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars players Meg Lanning, Alyssa Healy, Sarah Coyte, Erin Osborne, Jess Cameron and Jess Jonassen have all recently come through the Shooting Stars program.

“In addition, the tour is an amazing learning opportunity for these young cricketers as they will be coached by Belinda Clark - one of the best female cricketers to ever play the game. Her experience and knowledge of the game will be invaluable to their development,” Savage said.

A former Australian captain and ICC Hall of Fame member, Clark said she was looking forward to the opportunity of coaching the youth squad.

“I’m really looking forward to working with the best young talent in Australia and assisting them through this development opportunity,” Clark said.

“This Tour of New Zealand will be a great experience and an excellent opportunity for them to learn how Australian teams prepare and play.”

The tour to New Zealand runs from 12 to 23 March 2012.
