Aussies well placed at Indoor Worlds

UPDATED 06 February, 2013 10:15AM AEST | by cricket.com.au 2

Australia’s Junior Indoor Cricket teams are in great shape entering Grand Final day of the inaugural World Indoor Cricket Federation Junior World Series played in Johannesburg, South Africa.

After six days of spirited competition Australia’s teams have won 29 of a possible 32 pool matches to reach the Grand Final in all four divisions.

The Australian 12 and under boys division will seek to become Australia’s youngest world champions when they take on South Africa.

Both sides won seven games in the round robin matches, splitting their matches against each other.

In the 14 and under boys division the Australians have gone through undefeated winning all eight pool matches.

They will take on a determined South Africa who have had moments of brilliance throughout the week.

Australia’s 16 and under girls have been equally dominant and were also undefeated after the round robin stage.

They will enter the Grand Final against South Africa as hot favourites, but the locals have found form late in the week.

In the closest fought division of the week, the Australian 16 and under boys were forced to qualify for the final the hard way after losing two of their last three pool matches allowing New Zealand to qualify on top.

Late today, they dispatched the South African team 137 to 61 earning the right to avenge their early defeat to their trans-Tasman rivals.

Matches start at 9:00am Saturday 6th October local time and continue throughout the day.
