NSW capped of their dominant tournament performance to claim the Under-15 National Championship title in Western Sydney yesterday.
NSW finished the tournament undefeated after making light work of Victoria in the Championship final. Winning the toss was about the extent of Victoria’s excitement, who were bundled out for 53 from 24.1 overs. The NSW bowlers were all impressive, with Carly Leeson (4-13 from 4 overs) and Angel Lea (3-7 off 3 overs) the standouts. NSW chased Victoria’s total down in 14.4 overs without losing a wicket to claim the championship.
South Australia and the ACT played for third place, with ACT easily claiming the spoils. The South Australian team never got going with the bat and only managed to post 102 from 30.4 overs before being bowled out. Tabatha Saville (18) was the only SA batter to get a start, as the ACT team bowled to a plan. Rhiannon Graham (4-14 from 8 overs) grabbed the best figures but the wickets were spread between the ACT bowlers. A massive 86 run partnership for ACT ensured victory, with Khiami Cornish (48 off 47 balls) leading the charge and coasting easily to victory in 15.2 overs with only one wicket down.
