Melbourne Stars sensation Lasith Malinga will miss Tuesday's crucial KFC T20 Big Bash League clash with Sydney Thunder at the MCG due to international commitments.
The Stars were hopeful Malinga would be available following negotiations with Sri Lanka Cricket but have been forced to promote English all-rounder Dimi Mascarenhas in their bid to reach the BBL finals.
"Absolutely stoked to be in the Stars squad for tonight's game at the MCG. Hopefully get an opportunity to contribute to a win," Mascarenhas wrote on Twitter.
Malinga, who has taken 13 wickets for the Stars this season, will join his Sri Lankan team-mates in Melbourne on Tuesday before Friday's ODI series opener against Australia at the MCG.
The fourth-placed Stars, also without suspended skipper Shane Warne, can qualify for the finals with a win over the lowly Thunder.
