Hamstring forces Clarke to rest

UPDATED 09 February, 2013 7:45AM AEST | by Cricket Australia 4

Michael Clarke's hamstring stiffness means he will no longer play in the fifth Commonwealth Bank Series ODI in Melbourne, as a precaution ahead of the VB Tour of India.

Clarke was assessed by team medical staff following the game and the team physiotherapist confirmed hamstring stiffness in the right hamstring.

While there is no cause for alarm, the Australian captain will not now travel to Melbourne for the fifth Commonwealth Bank Series ODI on Sunday, as a precaution.

He will leave for Chennai on the VB Tour of India on 12 February, as planned.

Shane Watson will captain Australia in the fifth ODI vs the West Indies at the MCG on Sunday.

Shaun Marsh has been added to the ODI squad and will travel to Melbourne on Saturday ahead of Game 5 at the MCG.
