Simon Katich hit a match-winning 57 not out as he came out on top against former Test teammate Ricky Ponting last night.

Us

Evergreen Simon Katich used all his experience to bat Lancashire home to a five-wicket win over Surrey.

Earlier in the day Ricky Ponting was run out for 17 as the home side set up a competitive target of 264.

Ashwell Prince hit 76 in reply, but it was Katich's turn which really caught the eye.

The left-hander scythed his way to an unbeaten 57 off just 37 balls, his innings included six fours and two sixes, as Lancs crossed the line with 2.3 overs to go.

Unicorns 9-215 (Hogan 2-10, North 1-26) lost to Glamorgan 6-300 (Allenby 85, North 12) by 85 runs in the 40-over competition at Southend

Us

Jim Allenby transferred his strong Championship form to the one-day competition when he smashed 85 against Unicorns. Glamorgan dominated proceedings after being sent in by their opponents.

Mark Wallace (51) and Chris Cooke (98) were also in the runs as the Welsh side totalled 6-300. Marcus North making 12.

Michael Hogan (2-10) got them off and running in reply as the home side finished well short on 9-215. North chipping in with 1-26 off 3.4 overs.

Yorkshire 9-258 (Jaques 19) lost to Leicestershire 7-260 by three wickets in the 40-over competition at Scarborough

Us

Phil Jaques was dismissed for 19 as Leicestershire came through for a thrilling three-wicket win over Yorkshire.

Andrew Gale maintained his good form with 44, with support from Joe Sayers (58) and Liam Plunkett (53) as they closed on 9-258.

Niall O'Brien went cheaply in reply as The Foxes stumbled under early pressure. But Greg Smith (58) and Robert Taylor (48) brought them home with five balls remaining.

Them

Yorkshire's Matthew Fisher became the youngest post-war cricketer to play in one of England's county competitions after facing up against Leicestershire.

The right-arm seamer from York, who is only 15 years and 212 days old, scored 10 runs as Yorkshire posted 258-9.

He then took 1-40 off seven overs, trapping Shiv Thaknor lbw but Leicestershire won by three wickets.

Somerset 458 & 8-266 dec (Compton 18) dec drew with Durham 493 on Day four at Taunton

Them

Nick Compton was caught for 18 as Somerset's County Championship fixture with Durham petered out into a draw. His side are still looking for their first win of the campaign.

At the start of the day a stalemate always looked favourite. Graham Onions (2-33) did his best to force some kind of result. But at the end of play both teams had to settle for a share of the spoils.

Scotland 149 & 93 (Pattinson 4-21) lost to Australia A 8-372 dec & 5-230 dec by 360 runs on Day two in Edinburgh

Us

James Pattinson warmed up for the Ashes with 4-21 as Scotland were wiped aside by Australia A in Edinburgh.

Australia resumed the day on 4-164 with a massive 387-run lead following another dominant display against the Scots on Saturday. Alex Doolan (47), Moises Henriques (59) and Ashton Agar (56) all spending valuable time in the middle.

Scotland were not at the races in reply. Pattinson, Chadd Sayers (3-16), Peter Siddle (1-18) and Nathan Lyon (2-33) dividing up the wickets as they were shot out for 93.
