A County Practice 16/6

UPDATED 22 September, 2013 6:21PM AEST | by Andrew Groves

It was a frustrating day for our cricketers overnight in England with the three remaining Championship fixtures all ending in draws.

Kent 135 & 9-489 (Hogan 1-96) drew with Glamorgan 378 on Day four at Canterbury

Us

Michael Hogan bowled a marathon 32 overs for Glamorgan but he couldn't wipe out Kent's resistance.

The home side started the day on 4-254, a lead of just 11 having followed on, and closed on 9-489.

Hogan finished with 1-96, Jim Allenby 0-72, as Darren Stevens (119) and Ben Harmison (64) frustrated The Dragons.

It leaves Kent second bottom in the Division Two ladder and still without a four-day win this season.

Glamorgan, meanwhile, are nine points ahead of them in seventh.

Nottinghamshire 8-436 (Lumb 221no) drew with Derbyshire 391 on Day four at Trent Bridge

Them

Ed Cowan could only look on from the pavilion as England's Michael Lumb cracked an unbeaten double-century at Trent Bridge.

Lumb's vigil lasted 291 balls, including 28 fours and one six, as Nottinghamshire held on for a draw against local rivals Derbyshire.

Sussex 295 & 2-201 drew with Surrey 9-456 (Tremlett 54, Panesar 5-142) on Day four at Arundel

Them

England fast bowler Chris Tremlett swapped the ball for the blade to bludgeon his way to 54 off 33 deliveries overnight.

Surrey began the final day on 6-362, with Zander de Bruyn not out on 99. He quickly reached three figures before being dismissed by Monty Panesar (5-142).

The away side declared on 9-456, 161 ahead of title chasing Sussex. But the tricky batting period was negotiated successfully thanks to Chris Nash (102no) and Luke Wells (50).

Us

Steve Magoffin toiled away for Sussex off his 27 overs, but could only come away with 1-89.
