Funding announced for Vic cricket centre

UPDATED 25 August, 2013 2:11PM AEST | by Cricket Victoria

The Victorian Cricket and Community Centre is a step closer to reality today after the Federal Government's $10 million investment into the dedicated sporting and educational complex at the Junction Oval in St Kilda.

The purpose built facility will consolidate Cricket Victoria's administration, development and training functions into a single location, as well as providing a boutique-sized alternate first-class venue for the Commonwealth Bank Bushrangers and VicSpirit.

Importantly, regional Victorians will also be major beneficiaries.

With cricket being a sport of choice for regional Victorians, the facility will provide cricketers, administrators, volunteers and coaches from across the state with access to first-class services, training programs and experiences on an all-year round basis.

The Victorian Cricket and Community Centre will also house the National Centre for Diversity through Cricket, which has been designed to promote social inclusion and harmony in the community through cricket.
