Profile

Clint McKay has quickly established himself as one of Australia’s most consistent fast bowlers.

While he doesn’t reach the ferocious speeds of some of his teammates, the Victorian seamer has them all covered in terms of control.

The 30 year old has a brilliant record with the new ball, while his work with the older ball is equally impressive.

Although he is highly talented in all forms of the game, McKay has enjoyed the most success with the white ball.

Solid contributions for the Bushrangers saw him break into the national side in 2009 against India.

The Victorian quick picked up three wickets on debut, and has rarely been out of the headlines since.

McKay had already taken 12 wickets after just five national caps, and was quickly elevated into the Test side.

Wicketless in the first innings, McKay took a wicket and a catch in the second as Australia held on for a narrow win against the West Indies.

His seam movement and subtle changes of pace have been a hallmark of his 45 game ODI career, which has seen him snare 79 scalps.

McKay capped off a dream twelve months with his first career five-for against Sri Lanka in late 2010.

He has been consistently brilliant ever since, and picked up another five wickets against the same opponent in the 3rd final of the Commonwealth Bank Series in 2012.

His continued success for Australia earned him the ODI Player of the Year at this year’s Allan Border Medal.

The 2012/13 season was an interrupted one for Victoria, with McKay featuring prominently in the national squad.

He did manage a handy 2/24 against Ryobi Cup champions, the Bulls, while also taking three wickets against the Blues in the Shield.

With 128 wickets in first-class cricket, as well as 63 scalps in t20’s, McKay has proven to be an elite all-round bowler.
