A hard-working fast-bowler with a champagne name, Doug Bollinger enjoys a cult following among Australian fans for his loveable attitude and passion for the Australian shirt.
Known by fans as ‘Doug the Rug’, Bollinger earned his Test debut against South Africa in 2009 after several years of good performances for NSW, which included two hat-tricks.
He has drifted in and out of the Australian Test and ODI sides ever since, despite several impressive performances.
The left-armer has also enjoyed plenty of success for Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League and Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League.
Despite taking 12 wickets in the two-Test series against New Zealand in 2010, he is best remembered in that series for kissing the VB logo on his shirt after taking a wicket. T
he big quick insists he intended to plant one on the Australian coat of arms instead.
