Kerr takes two as Leicester bundled out for record low

It was a night to forget for the Leicestershire Foxes, bowled out for their lowest ever score in England's T20 competition as Derbyshire won easily

Derbyshire got their first win of the 2022 T20 Blast, crushing Leicestershire by 70 runs at Grace Road.

Chasing 160 for victory, the Foxes were skittled for 89, their lowest score in the history of England's T20 competition.

Australia's Hayden Kerr struck in the first over of the chase, bowling Scott Steele for four.

The left-armer then returned in the 16th over to take the final wicket, that of Naveen-ul-Haq, to finish with figures of 2-6 from 1.3 overs.

It was a vast improvement from his performance with the ball in his Derbyshire debut a day earlier, when he finished with 0-55 from his four overs.

Earlier, Falcons captain Shan Masood scored a tidy half-century before Kerr (19no) and Leus de Plooy (38no) ticked Derbyshire up to a competitive total.

Kerr, who has spent the last few weeks as a standby player in the IPL, was only signed earlier in the week as a replacement player for Sri Lanka paceman Suranga Lakmal.

Leicestershire's 89 all out narrowly trumps their 90 all out against Nottinghamshire in 2014 as the county's lowest T20 score, but they're a long way off the all-time lowest in the competition.

That unenviable title is held by Glamorgan, who in 2019 were routed for 44 against Surrey.

The tournament continues on Sunday with four matches to be played and a host of Aussies will be involved.

Tim David's Lancashire take on Worcestershire, Marnus Labuschagne and Michael Neser (Glamorgan) will be in action against Jason Behrendorff and Chris Green (Middlesex), Josh Philippe will feature for Sussex against Kent and Nathan McAndrew's Birmingham take on Durham.
