Zimbabwe lose series after record low

Zimbabwe bowled out for shortest innings in ODI history to hand Afghanistan 3-2 series win

Afghanistan claimed a 3-2 series triumph over Zimbabwe with a crushing 106-run victory in a rain-affected fifth one-day international in Harare.

The tourists, who had seen a 2-0 lead in the series wiped out, made 9-253 off their 50 overs with Rahmat Shah (50), Mohammad Nabi (48) and Noor Ali Zadran (46) making solid contributions.

Rain saw Zimbabwe's target revised to 161 off 22 overs on the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method, but they never got close.

Only captain Graeme Cremer (14 not out) and Ryan Burl (11) got into double figures as the hosts were skittled for 54 inside 14 overs, with Amir Hamza and Nabi claiming three wickets each.

The home side lost wickets in the 2nd, 3rd, 5th (two), 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th, 13th and 14th overs.

The Zimbabwe innings lasted just 83 deliveries, making it the shortest completed innings in one-day international history.

The previous low of 84 deliveries came at the 2003 World Cup when Glenn McGrath took 7-15 as Australia bowled out Namibia for just 45.

The previous low from a Full Member nation was the 94 balls Zimbabwe took to score 38 against Sri Lanka in 2001.

It's the third time in as many attempts since the 2015 Cricket World Cup that Afghanistan have beaten Zimbabwe in a five-match ODI series having also recorded 3-2 wins in 2015 and 2015-16.
