Aussie duo primed for India

Chris Lynn and Alex Doolan are confident of series success when the 'A' action begins in Brisbane on Sunday.

Australia A batsmen Alex Doolan and Chris Lynn are confident their side can “put India to the sword” in the sides’ two four-day matches beginning in Brisbane on Sunday.

The India A side, containing impressive names such as Robin Uthappa, Karun Nair, Amit Mishra and Umesh Yadav, shape as a testing challenge for the Australians on the periphery of higher honours.

For Doolan, Australia’s incumbent Test No.3, the series is also an opportunity to again put his name up in lights.

“We’re expecting to win,” he said. “It’s the Australian way isn’t it, to win every game that you play. “The wicket looks good so hopefully we can make some good scores and put India to the sword.

“I’m really looking forward to this series and hoping to have some good performances.

“I have high expectations – I hope to cement my spot in the (Test) team, but I can only do that with good performances.

“I’m trying to stay in the moment and make sure that each game counts.”

The 28-year-old Launceston product has used his recent time off productively – getting married and honeymooning before resuming a month’s solid training.

Lynn meanwhile, has barely paused for breath after his experience with premiers Kolkata Knight Riders in the Indian Premier League.

“I’ve been training for quite a bit now,” said the 24-year-old, who is desperate to add to his brief taste of international cricket via two T20 internationals.

“I’ve been in India, then came back here with the Queensland Bulls boys and then the past two weeks with Aussie A, so a lot of training and hopefully I can turn that into some scores with the Aussie A side.

“It’s good to be hitting the red ball again. I’m really looking forward to playing, and if I can put some scores together, you never know what might happen.”
