Ross flies for catch of the summer

Incredible take in Adelaide Oval outfield channels legendary McGrath effort

Quick Single: Live scores

Alex Ross's incredible diving catch at the Adelaide Oval has sparked memories of Glenn McGrath's famous diving grab at the same venue 13 years ago.

Fielding on the very same boundary where McGrath plucked a brilliant diving catch to remove England's Michael Vaughan in 2002, Ross produced an acrobatic snare of his own.

Another Englishman was the victim on this occasion, Sydney Sixers import Michael Lumb sent packing for 31 from 23 balls.

As the left-hander lofted a Hamish Kingston delivery high over cover, Ross moved swiftly to his left but he looked no chance of cutting the ball off as it neared the end of its descent.

But the 23-year-old threw himself forward and grabbed the ball in both hands, much to the delight of the sell-out home crowd.

Former England allrounder Andrew Flintoff was understandably in awe of Ross's effort, saying in commentary that "you will not see a better outfield catch than that".
