Healy bump helps Breakers into final

Wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy inadvertently brought an end to Meg Lanning's innings when a freakish catch bounced off her forehead on Sunday

Wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy has assured teammates and fans she is fine after a knock to the forehead during New South Wales’ emphatic win over Victoria in the Women’s National Cricket League on Sunday.

The Lend Lease Breakers advanced to their 20th straight WNCL final following the 10-wicket victory at Manuka Oval.

Having won the toss and elected to bat first, the Spirit were routed for 132 – in no small part due to the freakish dismissal of captain and world No.1 batter Meg Lanning for 12.

Taking a swipe at a Sarah Aley delivery, Lanning edged the ball into the forehead of NSW wicketkeeper Healy, with the ball deflecting to short cover where Lauren Smith dived forward to take a screamer.

The knock ended Healy’s stint behind the stumps, but the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars' 'keeper was given the all clear to open the batting, scoring an unbeaten 65 in a 134-run opening stand with Rachael Haynes to take the Breakers to a 10-wicket win.

"Thanks for the concern everyone but I’m all good!" Healy tweeted after the match.

The Breakers will play the SA Breezair Scorpions on Sunday, as they attempt to equal the famous St George rugby league club's record of 11 consecutive domestic premierships.
