With Australia going down in their opening round ICC World T20 match against Pakistan, Friday’s matchup against reigning champions, the West Indies, is shaping as a tough must-win for Bailey’s boys.

And the man that looms most-likely to rain on the pre-tournament favourite’s parade? None other than man-mountain and oft-spotted online personality Chris Gayle.

One of the most destructive batsmen in world cricket, Gayle averages a shade over 35 against the Aussies at a strike-rate of 142 – both improvements on his career numbers – along with three wickets at 11 from his part-time off-spin.

Persistent injuries have kept the big-hitting left-hander away from the crease leading into the WT20 but an ominous 34 off 33 balls in his side’s opening loss to India has dispelled any hopes of a dip in productivity stemming from the interrupted preparation.

Despite not making it to the crease as much as he would have liked, Gayle has still managed to keep his myriad of fans entertained, taking to social media non-stop during his enforced lay-off to share his unique worldview with the twitter-verse.
