Smith wins toss, Australia to bowl

The hosts will bowl for the first time in ODI cricket this summer with the series locked at 1-all

Australia captain Steve Smith has won the toss and elected to bowl in the third Victoria Bitter ODI Series match in Perth.

Australia have made two changes to the XI that lost in Melbourne on Sunday, with Mitchell Starc (rested) and Mitchell Marsh (injury) omitted for ODI debutant Peter Handscomb and towering fast bowler Billy Stanlake.

Handscomb, 25, was presented his maiden ODI cap, No.219 for Australia, by legendary wicketkeeper-batsman and Perth local Adam Gilchrist.

Pakistan have named an unchanged line-up, with Mohammad Hafeez to captain again in the absence of injured skipper Azhar Ali.

Following Australia's six-wicket, series-leveling loss at the MCG, Bupa Support Team Head Coach Darren Lehmann said his side's top order, which has failed to fire so far this series, must step up at the WACA Ground.

"We got saved by Matthew Wade in Brisbane when we were in trouble, so to have the top four or five do all the batting in this game will be good," Lehmann said.

"It was an optional (training) session (Wednesday) and the guys have been going for five months on the bounce, so to give them a day off occasionally is good heading into the back three games.

"They've been training really well. You can only do so much training, they've got to do it out on the park. So we're making sure they're fresh and ready to go.

"The batters know what they want to do, they know how they want to do it. It's just a matter of implementing it out there."
