Hilfenhaus to replace Finch at Mumbai

Stars fast bowler flown in as opening batsman recovers from hamstring surgery

Melbourne Stars fast bowler Ben Hilfenhaus will be a late entrant at this season’s Indian Premier League after being flown in by the Mumbai Indians as a replacement for the injured Aaron Finch.

Finch tore his hamstring in Mumbai Indians’ third game of the season against the Rajasthan Royals while attempting a quick single.

Following scans, the hard-hitting opening batsman underwent successful surgery on Tuesday in Melbourne and is set to be out for 12 weeks

The right-armer has played in the IPL before, having represented Chennai Super Kings in 2012 and 2014. The Tasmanian has captured 22 wickets in 17 matches at 21.77, conceding 7.72 an over.

Hilfenhaus signed on a three-year deal with the Stars last month, leaving the Hobart Hurricanes after four seasons.

Mumbai has also brought in New Zealand all-rounder Colin Munro for his national teammate Corey Anderson, who was ruled out of the competition with a fractured finger.
