Updated BBL|07 squads for each club

The MOU dispute is sorted, the Big Bash summer schedule has been unleashed and club lists are now beginning to take shape ahead of another bumper season.

The KFC BBL contracting period commenced on August 4 and all lists will need to be finalised by Friday December 8, with squads again consisting of 18 players including two internationals.

The first trade period of the off-season runs from August 4-25, while there will be another opportunity for clubs to complete deals from November 27 to December 1.

Teams will have more dollars to play with this time around as the salary cap rises to $1.6m, up from $1.4m in BBL|06.

As it stands, here are the current squads for each club:

Adelaide Strikers

Are the Strikers about to become Afghanistan’s favourite BBL club? Media reports have linked the club with impressive teenage leg-spinner Rashid Khan ahead of BBL|07.

The club is no stranger to brilliant international leggies after impressive stints from England’s Adil Rashid and New Zealand’s Ish Sodhi in recent seasons.

Adelaide parted ways with T20 legend Brad Hodge and quick Kane Richardson in the wake of their sixth-placed finish in BBL|06.

Current Squad: Wes Agar, Alex Carey, Jono Dean, Ben Laughlin, Jake Lehmann, Michael Neser, Billy Stanlake, Jake Weatherald.

Brisbane Heat

Heat fans were given a boost on the weekend when batting dynamo Chris Lynn said he remained hopeful of returning to action during the BBL|07 summer after recent surgery on his injured shoulder.

While one half of the "Bash Brothers" is still doubtful for the season ahead, the other looks set to unleash once again. New Zealand champion Brendon McCullum showed glimpses of his destructive batting power during England’s domestic T20 competition, and then exploded in his opening game of the Caribbean Premier League with an unbeaten 58 off 27 balls including a ridiculous seven sixes.

Current Squad: Joe Burns, Ben Cutting, Jason Floros, Sam Heazlett, Marnus Labuschagne, Josh Lalor, Chris Lynn, Brendon McCullum, James Peirson, Alex Ross, Mitchell Swepson.

The Brisbane Heat will cap memberships in BBL|07, with limited seating available in Gold, Platinum and General Reserved areas. Memberships have been selling quickly, so fans are encouraged to get in early to join the team!

Hobart Hurricanes

The Hurricanes are on the hunt for two international stars to replace Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara and England quick Stuart Broad.

Speaking with the Hobart Mercury last week, new Cricket Tasmania CEO Nick Cummins offered a teaser for the international players lined up by the Hurricanes, suggesting none had been aboard the ‘Cane train before and one had prior BBL experience.

Current Squad: James Bazley, Cameron Boyce, Dan Christian, Hamish Kingston, Ben McDermott, Jake Reed, Clive Rose, Beau Webster.

Melbourne Renegades

The Renegades have a strong core already locked in for BBL|07, highlighted by the return of star Caribbean duo Dwayne Bravo and Sunil Narine.

The current squad also features experienced Aussies in Aaron Finch, Matthew Wade and Cameron White, as well as exciting paceman James Pattinson, as they aim to bounce back from narrowly missing finals last summer.

Reports suggest Victorians Jon Holland and Brad Hodge could be set for homecomings with the red half of Melbourne this season, but the club is yet to confirm any new signings.

Melbourne Stars

Continuity seems key for the Stars this season, with only Dave Hussey (retirement) and Tom Triffitt (uncontracted) exiting the list since last season.

Last season's leading run-scorer, Ben Dunk, has been linked to the Melbourne outfit and could form a potent opening partnership with Stars veteran Luke Wright if a deal is reached.

Current Squad: Michael Beer, Scott Boland, James Faulkner, Seb Gotch, Evan Gulbis, Peter Handscomb, Sam Harper, John Hastings, Ben Hilfenhaus, Glenn Maxwell, Kevin Pietersen, Rob Quiney, Marcus Stoinis, Dan Worrall, Luke Wright, Adam Zampa.

Perth Scorchers

The defending champions are keeping their cards close to their chest and have yet to reveal the current state of their playing list for the upcoming season.

Justin Langer’s side is set to bid farewell to their fortress at #TheFurnace during BBL|07 ahead of the move to the new, 60,000-seat Perth Stadium.

Current Squad: Undisclosed.

Sydney Sixers

The Sixers have plenty of flexibility up their sleeve when it comes to list management this off-season, following on from their defeat to the Scorchers in last season’s final.

The magenta men have two international spots available and will be without the services of long-serving batter Michael Lumb after he was forced to retire due to an ankle injury last month.

Current Squad: Jackson Bird, Johan Botha, Ben Dwarshuis, Moises Henriques, Nathan Lyon, Nic Maddinson, Steve O’Keefe, Jordan Silk.

Sydney Thunder

The Thunder still boast plenty of experience with the likes of Shane Watson, Ben Rohrer and Clint McKay back on board after a disappointing season in BBL|06.

Spinner Chris Green is also locked in for another season and the BBL|05 champions will be hoping for another impressive display from the 23-year-old when the season begins with a Sydney Smash at Spotless Stadium on December 19.

Current Squad: Aiden Blizzard, Pat Cummins, Ryan Gibson, Chris Green, Clint McKay, Kurtis Patterson, Ben Rohrer, Shane Watson.
