Hogg re-signs in 'shady' style

Fan-favourite spinner back for BBL|04

The Perth Scorchers have announced the re-signing of fan-favourite Brad Hogg in unique fashion on their Facebook page this morning.

The 43-year-old left-arm spinner stars – and sings – in a video recreation of the Eminem song Without Me, riffing on the chorus line of ‘guess who’s back’.

Hogg will return to The Furnace for the fourth edition of the KFC T20 Big Bash League after helping the Scorchers achieve championship glory in BBL|03.

Hogg claimed nine wickets last season at the miserly economy rate of 6.19 runs per over and then earned selection in the Australia squad for the ICC World Twenty20 in March.

If you haven't seen the bizarre video the Scorchers posted as a 'fan's first' announcement this morning, here it is:

“The body is feeling great and the mind is just the same as ever; it’s feeling like an 18-year-old’s,” Hogg said.

“I’m really looking forward to getting back out in the middle and playing.

“I know my career is coming to an end; it’s going to come to an end quicker than it will extend, we all know that.

“I just want to enjoy every moment and I’m just excited.

“Seeing the young blood around Western Australian cricket at the moment, it’s just great to be a part of it.”

The reigning BBL champions also announced the re-signing of death bowler Yasir Arafat as one of their two international players.

Arafat missed out on the Scorchers' Big Finals campaign through injury, but played a crucial role throughout the summer.

“I’m delighted to go back to the Perth Scorchers,” Arafat said.

“I had a very good experience in the winter (UK winter) and we won the trophy.

“We’ve got a very good young side, with some experienced players as well.

“I’ve seen some of the youngsters coming up in the Australia A squad and doing well.

“It’s quite a good competition and one of the best, if not the best, tournaments around.”

The Scorchers have now filled 15 of their 18 roster spots ahead of their season opener against Adelaide Strikers on December 22.
