England quick in for Badree at Heat

T20I representative Mills called up for injured West Indian and could debut next Wednesday

Brisbane Heat has secured English T20 International left-arm paceman Tymal Mills as the injury replacement for West Indian leg-spinner Samuel Badree.

The KFC Big Bash League Technical Committee has approved the replacement which will enable Mills to make his BBL debut on Wednesday night at the Gabba against the Perth Scorchers.

Mills made his English T20I debut last July and will use his stint with the Heat to build momentum for the upcoming T20 series against India in India at the end of the month.

The 24-year-old has been playing for the Auckland Aces in the New Zealand Super Smash series in December, taking 10 wickets in 10 matches with an economy rate of 6.61.

The Heat signed the Sussex quick to play matches against the Scorchers next week and the Melbourne Stars at the MCG on Tuesday, January 17 as the replacement for Badree, who suffered a minor hamstring injury in the loss to the Sydney Sixers earlier this week.

Mills is expected to link with the Heat early in the week and under BBL rules governing replacement players, must either play or be in the 12 for the next match he is available for.

Chris Lynn smashes Heat to massive win

"With Sam Badree and Josh Lalor both out injured at the moment, the opportunity to provide additional variety to the attack was very attractive," said Heat coach Dan Vettori.

"Tymal has been going well for Auckland so he is match-ready.

"We're looking forward to having him join us and prepare for the matches ahead at the Gabba and the MCG where the conditions should suit him."

Bash Bros' boom crash opera silences Scorchers

The Heat produced another emphatic batting display last night as they romped to a nine-wicket victory with 32 balls to spare over the Scorchers at the Furnace.

'Bash Brothers' Chris Lynn (98 not out) and captain Brendon McCullum (50no) swept the Heat to 1-174 in reply to the home team’s total of 6-173, with the win putting them on top of the competition ladder.

The Heat return home this afternoon, with the majority of players enjoying a recovery day on Saturday while other squad members will play in the my FootDr Premier Cricket competition.

Tickets are selling quickly for Wednesday’s match at the Gabba, which is again shaping as a sell-out.
