Lynn crashes rapid ton in low-key return

Brisbane Heat star returns from injury, belting 124 off 118 for Queensland on opening day of Futures League match

A near two-month absence looks to have done Chris Lynn's hitting power no harm, after the KFC Big Bash League sensation belted a rapid century in his cricket comeback.

Returning from a neck injury that cut short his return to Australia's limited-overs sides, Lynn struck a match-turning century for Queensland's Futures League side in Brisbane on Monday.

Arriving at the crease with the Bulls in trouble at 2-6 against the ACT, the destructive right-hander counter-attacked and soon had the ball flying to all parts of Allan Border Field.

Lynn passed triple-figures before eventually departing for 124 from just 118 balls, having scored the majority of Queensland's 184 when Comets left-arm spinner Shane Devoy had him caught behind.

More than three quarters of his runs came in boundaries, as he hit 21 fours and cleared the ropes twice in just over two-and-a-half hours at the crease.

The knock had Queensland well on top after day one of the four-day game, after ACT were bundled out by their hosts for just 67 earlier in the day.

Lynn hasn't played any part in Queensland's Sheffield Shield campaign this season and the Bulls are yet to decide on whether they'll risk him for next week's final round.

The fifth-placed Bulls begun their penultimate round match against Tasmania in Hobart on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old was selected in Australia's squad to play Sri Lanka in last month's three-match KFC T20 International series against Sri Lanka but was ruled out after aggravating a bulging disc in his neck.

His ODI and KFC Big Bash League campaigns were both ended by the neck injury in January, having made his ODI debut against Pakistan earlier that month.

Lynn clobbered 26 sixes in just five BBL|06 matches for the Brisbane Heat to be named the player of the tournament, a feat made more remarkable by his revelation he'd been playing through severe pain during the competition.

"I've had a bulging disc in my neck for the past five weeks, but I only had a scan last week (and) found out it was pushing against the nerve," Lynn said in January.

"I actually thought it was in my shoulder but it's the pain from the disc. It's not ideal."
