Lynn returns for rare Shield clash

Big-hitting batsman one of three inclusions as Queensland hunt a spot in the Shield final

Queensland have welcomed back star batsman Chris Lynn from a neck injury for this week's crunch Sheffield Shield clash with Victoria in Brisbane.

Bulls captain Chris Hartley (finger) and allrounder Michael Neser (ankle) have also bolstered the Bulls' ranks for a match they must win to remain in the Shield final hunt.

Even if Queensland defeat the Bushrangers in the match which begins at Allan Border Field on Thursday, they must rely on other results going their way to jump from third spot on the congested Shield table.

Quick single: Sheffield Shield final-round scenarios

NSW, Queensland, South Australia and Western Australia are separated by just 6.35 points on the Shield table ahead of the regular season finale.

Victoria have already booked a final berth.

At least the cavalry has returned for Queensland's vital match.

It will mark the first Shield game for Lynn in 12 months after finally overcoming a neck complaint that ruled him out of last month's international T20 series against Sri Lanka, while wicketkeeper Hartley missed the last two Shield games with a broken finger.

Queensland cut Peter Forrest, Sam Truloff and Ben Cutting despite winning their last Shield game against Tasmania within three days.

Meanwhile Victoria have two new faces in their 13-man squad that will travel to Brisbane, with Rob Quiney and uncapped fast bowler Jackson Coleman called in for allrounder Marcus Stoinis, who has flown to India to link up with Australia's Test squad.

Coleman made his domestic one-day debut during the Matador BBQ's One-Day Cup last October but has yet to play at first-class level.
