Lynn to fire up Heat for three more years

Queensland young-gun commits to three-year deal with Brisbane keen for improved showing in BBL|05

Chris Lynn has signed a three-year contract extension with the Brisbane Heat as the BBL|04 wooden spooners look to rebuild around a core of Queensland talent.

Lynn joins Joe Burns, Ben Cutting and Nathan Reardon the Heat roster for the fifth season of the KFC T20 Big Bash League, with the big-hitting Queensland earmarked as a future leader by the state.

Lynn, who will miss this year's lucrative Indian Premier League with a hamstring injury that will sideline him for 10 weeks, hinted the Heat were chasing some big-name signings.

"Like all the boys I was very disappointing with how we performed last season, but I'm really excited for what the future holds at the Brisbane Heat," Lynn said.

"I've spoken with the club's management and it sounds like there are some exciting players joining the squad, so I'm looking forward to again playing my part and hopefully challenging for the Big Bash title."

The BBL|02 champions underwhelmed in 2014-15, finishing last with just two wins from their eight games.

"Chris has been a fantastic player for the Heat across each season of the BBL, so it was always going to be a focus to keep him at the club," Queensland Cricket General Manager of High Performance Brett Jones said.

"We now have the opportunity to build a squad that we think can win the competition, and we certainly see Chris as a major key in our quest for success," he continued.
