Lynn ruled out until December

Surgery puts Queensland gun out of action

Queensland and Brisbane Heat batsman Chris Lynn has suffered another injury blow, ruled out for the first half of the domestic season due to shoulder surgery.

The 24-year-old went under the knife on Tuesday to repair a chronic left-shoulder injury, which he aggravated playing for Australia A this month.

Lynn will miss the entirety of the Matador BBQs one-day Cup and the start of the Bupa Sheffield Shield season before hopefully returning in time for the KFC T20 Big Bash League in December.

"There’s never a good time to be injured but the goal is to be ready in time for the BBL if all goes to plan," Lynn said.

"The surgeon was happy with how things went and the Queensland medical staff are pleased it all seems to have gone to plan.

"I’m pretty sore at the moment, and having spoken to a few people who have been down the same road, I know that there is plenty of hard work ahead.

"But I’m confident I will be up to getting back to full fitness and playing some good cricket for Queensland and the Heat in the second half of the season."

Bulls and Heat coach Stuart Law is now faced with the task of replacing the talented batsman, who made his international debut earlier this year.

"We'll miss Lynny, no doubt, but as we've seen on many occasions, there is always someone waiting in the wings for a chance," Law said.

"It highlights the importance of our pre-season, and the match preparation we will undergo between now and the start of the season will give some players a very real chance to mount a case."

The Bulls will also miss Lynn's athleticism in the field, where he has developed a reputation for taking remarkable catches, including a match-saving stunner on the boundary line during the Indian Premier League this year with eventual champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
