Former West Indies A player Roderick Estwick takes over for ODI tri-series against Australia and South Africa
Ambrose replaced as WI bowling coach
The West Indies have announced the coaching appointment of Barbadian Roderick Estwick in place of bowling consultant Sir Curtly Ambrose.
Legendary quick Ambrose has been with the team for the past three years, most recently during their triumphant World T20 campaign in India.
In a short statement on Saturday morning (AEST), the West Indies Cricket Board announced that Estwick would replace Ambrose for next month's one-day international tri-series with Australia and South Africa.
The nature of Ambrose's departure was not made clear in the statement.
Estwick was the bowling coach for Barbados in domestic cricket having previously worked with under-19s players at both domestic and international level.
The 54-year-old played 37 first-class matches during his seven-year career as a player with Barbados, Transvaal in South Africa and West Indies A, taking 141 wickets at an average of 22.
Estwick will join the Windies for their pre-tournament camp, starting this week.
The Windies open the tri-series against South Africa in Guyana on June 3, with matches to also be played in St Kitts and Barbados before the final on June 26.
