Hussey joins Chennai for IPL

Brother left shocked as he learns of signing

David Hussey has stepped out of the broadcast booth and into the dugout, signed by Chennai Super Kings to replace the injured Dwayne Bravo.

Hussey, who plays for the Melbourne Stars in the KFC T20 Big Bash League, had been commentating on the television broadcast of the tournament after going unsold in this season's auction.

Hussey had hinted at his call-up with an excited tweet, and the news took his brother Mike by surprise when he was the boundary-line guest during the broadcast of the Mumbai Indians v Sunrisers Hyderabad match.

West Indies allrounder Bravo was ruled out of the tournament after injuring his shoulder during CSK's first game of the season against Kings XI Punjab in Abu Dhabi on April 18, but the franchise didn't find a replacement until Hussey was brought in.

At the February auctions, CSK had opted not to buy back Michael Hussey, who was eventually purchased by Mumbai Indians.

It will be David Hussey's third team in the IPL. He had earlier played for Kolkata Knight Riders and Kings XI Punjab.
