Mystery of Warner's Baggy Green revealed

David Warner might be forgiven for thinking the Baggy Green he wore during the first Test had given him magical powers, however it remains to be seen whether the Aussie vice-captain will be wearing the same cap in his next outing in Chittagong.

Warner was sporting a pristine Baggy Green in Dhaka, which he wore regularly throughout four hot days in Dhaka during the first Test defeat against Bangladesh, after he misplaced his regular cap.

The left-hander, who blazed a magnificent 112 in the fourth innings of the match, had gone through the official Cricket Australia channels required when the treasured piece of Australian sporting wear is lost, however a final search of their house on Wednesday from Warner's wife, Candice, proved fruitful. The missing Baggy Green was found in a bag that also contained a captain's blazer, fitted for Warner. As vice-captain, the 30-year-old would don the blazer for a Test match coin toss should he ever need to step in for captain Steve Smith.

An ESPN report also added that Warner had been looking to get his Baggy Green repaired, after it had suffered wear and tear across his six-year Test career, having been presented with it at his Gabba debut in December 2011.

Warner told reporters after play that his superb hundred – his first in 20 innings in Asia – had come as a result of trusting his aggressive instincts.

"You always get comments that you have to adjust and adapt to the conditions," said Warner, who has scored 14 of his 19 Test hundreds in Australia.

"But, as a player you should never go away from what you know best.

"That's what I have noticed with me, with my attacking approach; I strike close to 80 in Test match cricket and I find that when things aren't going my way I've thought of defending.

"It is always challenging. You find these challenges rewarding eventually when you get on top, but it is very, very hard work.

"It has taken me a long time to actually work out my game and hopefully a lot of other players do that faster than what I have done."
