Warner announces second child coming

Enigmatic Australian opener and ironwoman wife Candcie reveal a second child is coming, a sibling for Ivy Mae

Australia opener David Warner is to become a father for a second time after taking to social media to announce his wife Candice is pregnant.

Warner and his wife said they were very excited to announce the news with posts on their respective Instagram accounts, and revealed they would be having a second daughter, a younger sister for first child Ivy Mae.

The Warners chose to reveal the news with a picture of an excited Ivy waving what appears to be an ultrasound picture. It is common for parents to find out the sex of their child at the 20-week scan, although it is possible in some cases to know earlier.

It is not known how far along the Warners' second pregnancy is, or what their due date is.

Candice and Ivy have been travelling on the Qantas Tour of the British Isles with Warner, along with a number of players' partners as the Australian cricket team's family continues to grow.

"Ivy Mae is very excited that she will have a little sister to play around with very soon," Warner wrote on Instagram.

He added that Candice was "all fit and well" in her second pregnancy and "we are very excited about the news!" before signing off with the hastag "#proudparents".

The Warners are still glowing following the birth of their daughter, Ivy Mae, last year.

Candice's pregnancy is the second announced on this tour following Australia Test captain Michael Clarke's announcement he and wife Kyly were expecting their first child.

"Michael and I are extremely ecstatic to announce that we are expecting our first child," Kyly posted.

"Can't wait to meet baby Clarke."

Michael Clarke then followed up his wife's post with a tweet of his own.

The Clarke's news came on the eve of Australia's first Ashes Test against England in Cardiff, where Australia delivered a below par performance on the field to fall behind 1-0 in the best-of-five series.

Their pregnancy was not the first time the Clarkes had let the world know of massive personal news via social media, with the couple revealing their marriage via Michael Clarke's Twitter account in 2012.

Under Bupa Support Team Head Coach Darren Lehmann, the Australian Cricket Team has become a very family-friendly environment, and there have been a couple of recent additions to the travelling party which currently includes 28 children.

Ryan Harris and wife Cherie recently welcomed son Carter to their family while Shane and Lee Watson celebrated the birth of their second child, Matilda, in May.

There have also been two recent weddings; Shaun Marsh married Rebecca O'Donovan in April in Perth not long after David Warner and Candice Falzon tied the knot.

And there are a few more weddings on the horizon with Australia fast bowler Peter Siddle proposing to Anna Weatherlake in April and Mitchell Starc engaged to Southern Stars wicketkeeper Alyssa Healy, while injured quick James Pattinson announced his engagement to Kayla Dickson this week.
