Perry, Blackwell star for Breakers in WNCL

Ellyse Perry and Alex Blackwell both hit centuries as the NSW Breakers won again

Ellyse Perry and Alex Blackwell each hit a century as the New South Wales Breakers maintained their spot at the top of the WNCL table with a 120-run victory over the ACT Meteors on Saturday.

Perry smashed 126 from 115 balls, while Blackwell was a little bit more cautious as she managed 108 off 123 balls as the Breakers amassed a match-winning score of 6-312 in the 50-over match at Manuka Oval in Canberra.

The duo put on 232 for the third wicket, with Perry in particular savage - she hit 15 boundaries and two sixes - on any loose bowling from the Meteors.

The Meteors side battled hard in reply, but were dismissed for 198 in the 48th over as the Breakers picked up another bonus point to reclaim top place on the WNCL table.

Earlier, the South Australian Scorpions won their fourth match of the WNCL season when they snuck past the Queensland Fire by a solitary wicket in a thriller at Railways Oval in Adelaide.

The Fire managed 145 in a low-scoring contest, only for Amanda Wellington and Katelyn Pope to push a single in the 46th over to clinch the triumph for the Scorpions.

The win takes the Scorpions to 17 points on the WNCL table, some two points behind the Breakers and four points behind the third-placed Victorian Spirit.

The Spirit weren't in action on Saturday and will need to defeat the Breakers on Sunday to have any chance of making it through to the final.

In the other WNCL match on Saturday, the Western Fury defeated the Tasmania Roar by seven runs in another tight contest in Adelaide.
