Hobart Hurricanes batsman George Bailey and Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques have leapt to the top of the Official Big Bash Batting and Allrounder Rankings respectively in the latest update, released today.

Bailey was sitting in second spot after his superb 62no against the Sydney Sixers to open the season, and the World Cup winner backed it up with another strong contribution – 40 from 21 balls – in the Hurricanes' win against the Heat last week.

It was enough to see him usurp the No.1 position from Kevin Pietersen, with the Stars import missing his side's most recent fixture after heading back to England for the birth of his second child.

Speaking with cricket.com.au after Hobart's second match, Bailey put his impressive form down to the fact he'd relinquished the captaincy – a change that had allowed him to relax into his cricket.

"You can be a lot more selfish and just rock up and worry about your game," Bailey said. "You can relax and enjoy it, which has been great.

"I'm really enjoying the role I've been given in the middle."

Brisbane captain Chris Lynn's brilliant 75no in a losing cause at Perth last week saw him jump six places into second spot, with Pietersen dropping back to third position and Sixers opener Michael Lumb (up 11 places) and the Thunder's Test rep Usman Khawaja rounding out the top five batting places.

The other big mover into the top 10 was injured Sixers skipper Henriques, whose double of 62 and 41 in his most recent outings shot him up 30 places into ninth position.

Henriques, who injured his left calf and was forced to retire hurt against the Stars on Sunday night, now appears in all three categories, most notably climbing five places to be the No.1-ranked allrounder.

He leads a top five that also includes, in order: Andre Russell (Thunder), Dwayne Bravo (Renegades), John Hastings (Stars) and Adil Rashid (Strikers).

West Indian Russell continues to take the Big Bash by storm, slotting into second place on the allrounder list after his fireworks with the bat against the Strikers, and retaining top spot on the bowling list with 2-28 against the same opposition to be the tournament's leading wicket-taker with seven scalps and an economy rate of 5.75.

The Scorchers' English allrounder David Willey climbs 10 places into fifth after a man-of-the-match display against the Heat in Perth, while Nathan Rimmington rises 23 spots to slot into ninth position.
