World Cup tie unlikely: Bailey

Batsman says he will get inked if Cup final is tied

Australian batsman George Bailey says he will get a tattoo if the ICC Cricket World Cup final ends up being a tie and two countries are forced to share the spoils.

The ICC has announced that in the event of a tie in next year's World Cup decider, joint winners will be declared instead of playing a Twenty20-style 'Super Over' or a full replay to decide a sole victor.

Bailey said he was not too fussed about the move - because he does not think it will come to that anyway.

"I mean when was the last draw in one day cricket? I'm sure there will be a winner," Bailey said.

"You'd be disappointed, but it would be pretty special to play in something like that.

"It would be amazing. I'd get a tattoo if it's a draw."

If a game ends up being a tie during the knockout stages, then the team who finished higher during the group stage will progress.

That situation unfolded during the 1999 World Cup, when Australia progressed to the final after running out South Africa's Allan Donald when scores were level in the semi-final.

The 2015 World Cup will be co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand, with the group stage to begin on February 14.

The ICC has also confirmed that the Decision Review System will be in place for every game at the World Cup.
