Maxwell dazzles for Yorkshire in T20

Aussie allrounder hits form with bat and ball in man-of-the-match performance

World Cup star Glenn Maxwell has hit form in the UK domestic T20 competition, belting 92 not out from 48 deliveries in Yorkshire's 40-run win over Nottinghamshire overnight.

On the back of Maxwell's spectacular innings, which included five sixes and eight fours, Yorkshire piled on 4-209 from their 20 overs.

The Australian then opened the bowling with his off-spin and snared two wickets in four overs to round out a man-of-the-match performance.

Maxwell's Australia and Yorkshire teammate Aaron Finch missed out with the bat, making six, but despite the early setback the Vikings got back to winning ways.

The victory was the third of Yorkshire's season, and they currently sit in sixth position as competition for finals places begins to heat up.

Maxwell, who had previously managed just 48 runs in four innings, exploded back to his unorthodox best at Headingley, slapping, lapping, reversing and scything his way through a knock that thoroughly entertained onlookers and offered a timely reminder as to his capabilities.

For much of his innings, he was well matched by batting partner Andy Hodd (70 off 39) who also turned on the trick shots as the pair shared a 101-run stand in under 10 overs.

Yorkshire face fourth-placed Warwickshire tomorrow and victory could see the Vikings leapfrog them into fourth place.
