Glenn and Sara McGrath welcome first child

Cricket legend Glenn McGrath and his wife Sara have welcomed their first child.

Baby girl Madison Mary Harper McGrath was born on Friday afternoon in Sydney.

Her arrival came earlier than expected, but the family have told The Australian Women’s Weekly that mother and daughter are both doing well.

The couple, who have been married for five years, revealed in May they were expecting their first child together.

McGrath has two children – 15-year-old James and 13-year-old Holly - from his first marriage to late wife Jane, who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2008.

“We are adding to our family and we couldn’t be more delighted,” McGrath told The Australian Women’s Weekly at the time.

“The kids are really excited.

“James used to ask us on a regular basis whether we were going to give him a baby brother.

“To see both their faces when they learned the news. James jumped up and gave both of us a hug and kiss. And that was really special for me and I know it meant a lot to Sara.”

McGrath said he had not expected add to his family after undergoing a vasectomy in 2003, but the couple had been able to conceive via IVF.
