Hamstring woes don't worry Mitch Marsh

Allrounder confident he’ll be fully fit to play a part in Tri Series before serious business of World Cup

Star allrounder Mitch Marsh insists his troublesome hamstrings won't hold any mental demons for him as he attempts to drive Australia to World Cup glory.

Marsh was selected in Australia's 15-man ICC Cricket World Cup squad today despite succumbing to another hamstring setback last month.

The 23-year-old and his brother Shaun have a history of serious hamstring issues, but Mitch says his latest setback was only minor and he's on track to play at the back-end of the upcoming Carlton Mid ODI Tri Series against India and England.

Mitch Marsh looms as a key figure in Australia's push for World Cup success, and he's adamant his injury woes won't come back to haunt him.

"There's no mental demons for me," Marsh said on Sunday.

"Over the last 12 months I've got my body to a point where I've gained a lot of confidence in it.

"And I've just gone hell for leather playing and training, and that's been great for me.

"This is a really minor injury. It's probably only a 10-day injury, but my hamstrings turn that into a three or four-week injury."

Marsh has resumed running duties and is also back batting in the nets, but he's unlikely to play a role for the Perth Scorchers in the KFC T20 Big Bash League even if they make the finals.

Instead, Marsh will be held off for the latter one-day fixtures against England and India, where he may play as a specialist batsman.

Australia's first World Cup game is against England on February 14 at the MCG, and Marsh is confident he'll well and truly be back to full fitness by then.
